Autism Awareness Month

“If we are to achieve a richer culture, we must weave one in which each diverse human gift will find a fitting place.” Margaret Meade

Imagination Place supports and embraces children of all abilities to create a community that accepts and includes all children, regardless of their developmental level or perceived ability.  We love creating a fun, informal, social setting that spurs engagement and supports each child's development.

Over the course of our 17 years in the Salt Lake Community we have been honored to work with programs like DDI Vantage, House of Hope, and The School for the Deaf and Blind, as well as mainstreaming children with Down Syndrome, children on the Autism spectrum, and children with intellectual and/or physical disabilities, because we know that ALL children are musical and deserve to have the gifts of music and movement in their lives.

How each program assists:

Music Together (parent/child program for age birth – 5)

Each child participates at his or her own developmental level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, observing, or exploring musical instruments. We welcome the whole family to join in this important family music experience, and any caregiver—parents, grandparents, nanny—can bring the child(ren) to class. Music Together classes change lives by stimulating both hemispheres of the brain and supporting speech, language, social, and the gift of being able to communicate in new ways.

Imagination Workshop (ages 3 1/2 and up)

Music and art working together form a powerful combination that help kids function in social situations and improve their communication skills. And this mixed aged environment is ideal for nurturing growth in children of all abilities and to help them learn how to be at ease in a social environment. Because we use numerous art forms including theatre, dance, singing, craft-making and more, each child is able to find something they excel at in an environment where they aren’t being compared to others. A child’s self-esteem soars when they are given the space to be successful and have fun.

AntiGravity® Fitness Just Kids (ages 5 and up)

Here children are invited to move in all directions of open space as the silk hammock supports them. Children are able to open up, reach and extend to their fullest, and relax in a way they never have before. The tactile nature and comforting compression provided by the hammocks are especially appealing to many children.
